Waso Learn
A social business offering curriculum-aligned online learning for KG to Grade 12 students — reimagined from a dull digital textbook into a gamified world with its own story and mascot.
The first build simply moved a traditional learning product onto a screen — a rather dull interface for an EdTech app aimed at kids.
Some less tech-savvy parents actually preferred the simplicity. But our core audience is KG–G12 students, so we dug into what really motivates young learners — and that meant rethinking the whole experience.
“Meet the Wise Old Rabbit — living on the Moon, teaching his family through the Waso Learn app.”
We rebuilt Waso Learn from the ground up around an emotional core. The rabbit mascot — Waso's chosen symbol — became the Wise Old Rabbit, a storyteller whose narrative gave young, traditionally-taught learners a reason to come back.
Lessons and grades became little villages and houses, easing the stress kids felt about studying. Finish a lesson, earn carrots based on your score, and spend them upgrading your house — a loop that pushed engagement and retention up.
Card usage is low in Myanmar, so many parents struggled with online gateways. We leaned on local payment platforms, handled some flows manually, and rebuilt the success & failure states with clear, calm guidance — cutting issues dramatically.
Small screens limited classroom use. The Waso Learn TV app leans on bigger displays for richer visuals, easier navigation, and a shared, more immersive learning experience.
